Modernization and Incorporation of New Functionalities to the CalcProc Software - Supply of Macros for Calculating Calcproc Oil and Gas Processing
Description: Calculations of oil and gas processing are largely performed by the body of engineers from Petrobras for the elaboration of projects and process optimization, both in refining and other areas of Petrobras' performance. An important tool to aid in processing calculations is called CalcProc, which consists of an Excel supplement with several correlations for predicting properties of oil and its derivatives and converting units of measurement. In the present work, research and development will be carried out aiming at the modernization and incorporation of new functionalities to the CalcProc software, including to its VBA code new correlations of prediction of properties of oil, natural gas and its derivatives, whether theoretical, semi-theoretical or empirical . Functions related to the calculation of energy efficiency in equipment will also be incorporated into the software. To achieve the desired results, the stages of extensive literature review, implementation of new correlations and features to the software source code will be carried out and, finally, the evaluation of the prediction results will be made from comparisons between different methods and comparison with experimental data..

Biorefinery Development Integrated to a Bioethanol Sugar Cane Plant with Zero CO2 Emission: routes to convert renewable resources to bio-products and bio-electricity
Description: An integrated process is proposed in this project, in order to maximize the productivity of biofuels and chemical products with high added value from molasses, bagasse and sugarcane straw. The conceptual idea is to use the first generation bioethanol plant as a basis for the development of new processes, since in such plants many facilities are already available, such as electricity, steam, water and surplus bagasse. Carbon dioxide (CO2), generated in the production of biofuels, is proposed to be used in the production of ethanol, from algae biomass and catalytic transformation or biological fermentation of syngas, as well as the use of this as renewable carbon molecule to obtain chemicals through chemical synthesis and fermentation; the use of supercritical CO2 (scCO2) has attracted a lot of interest in order to facilitate various chemical processes and will be considered as part of some chemical route. This challenging integrated process has the great appeal of not emitting carbon dioxide and offers the best of renewable carbon for the production of biofuels and chemicals, making it, when technically and economically viable, a milestone for the progress of Brazilian biorefinery. Around the world, analyzes reveal that an integrated biorefinery for biofuels and chemicals potentially offers a much higher return on investment and meets energy and economic goals simultaneously.
